Extending Property

If you're looking to add conservatories to your home but can't afford the prices being charged by the specialists, why not build your own? Self build kits that you assemble yourself are far cheaper than having one installed by professional fitters, and if you've the adequate skill set to do the job then why pay someone else to do it?

Conservatories are fairly easy to put together providing you have a reasonable grounding in bricklaying, as even ones with just glass and wood will require some kind of foundation. Even a complete novice is capable of erecting their own conservatories, providing they work carefully and do their homework. With the advent of the internet there is a wealth of information and experience available at your finger tips so there is no excuse not to use it.

Foundations will require a trench digging which will of course arguably be the most physical part of the job. It may be possible on smaller projects to just use a shovel, but on larger floored conservatories you'll be wanting to use a mechanical digger to get the earth up. This isn't just because of the actual volume of mud and clay you'll have to move, but there is almost always a ton of builders rubbish a foot or so under the ground, and this can be almost impossible to shift by hand. Diggers like these can be hired by the day but it would cost a lot more to hire an operator with it, which would negate the point of building your own conservatories in the first place.
